DQ is your average turn based JRPG, but incredibly polished and with great characters and story. NNK has a more lighthearted story and dialogue, and had it's own charms with a different kind of combat system. DQ11, as good as it is, feels like DQ8+. Everything is more polished, nothing more creative.
I mean if you passed one dreamer maze there is no reason to return (except the first one with smelly shoes trader if you never managed to get 'em which is a huge oversight). The last dreamer maze however, is definetly horrible endgame grind design.
